Our Story

Based in Townsville, North Queensland, National Airside Safety & Maintenance Pty Ltd has worked on airport projects for over 25 years.

In the past decade alone, we have carried out works on defence bases in Townsville, Tindal, Curtain, Darwin, Robertson Barracks, Edinburgh, Katherine, Amberley, Oakey, Pearce, Gin Gin and Scherger.

Our Works Safety Officers are all fully qualified and hold current DCACS and ASIC’s, in addition to aircraft radio certificates and Works Safety certificates. We also supply our own safety officer vehicles, all of which are fitted with aircraft radios, two ways and beacons.

NASAM is owned by Andrew and Nicole Ward and 51% owned by Edward and Sandra Matters.

Meet Our Team

Andrew has been a Works Safety Officer (WSO) for 24 years and Warren Jones for 24 years, both having started at Townsville Airport.

    Andrew “Jumbo” Ward

    Owner/Manager/WSO

    Andrew (Jumbo) Ward started with the Federal Airports Corporation in 1997 at Townsville as an WSO/Groundsman and then in 2000 formed his own Family business.

    Warren Jones

    WSO

    Warren Jones started in the aviation industry in 1997 at Townsville airport as a WSO, in 2020 Warren became a senior WSO when he joined the NASAM team.

    Edward Matters

    Director

    Edward joined the NASAM team in February 2022 where he became a Director of the business. Edward also works part time with the team at NASAM.

  • Nicki Ward

    Nicki Ward

    Administration/WSO

    Nicki has been working in the aviation industry for the past 16 years in a management role and the past 3 years as a WSO.

    WSO

    Rowan has 25 years’ background in the aviation industry as a pilot, with the last 3 years spent working on our team as a WSO.

    General Manager

    Jake has 12 years experience in the aviation industry, working in line marking and airside maintenance, while for the past 2 years he’s also worked as a WSO with us.
